Heritage: The Rockport Story.

This is the story of where our modern comfort began.

It all started in 1971 with a simple plan. A father and son asked themselves, “Why aren’t there dress and casual shoes as comfortable as a sneaker?” With that and the know-how of over three generations of shoemakers who preceded them, they took the answer into their own hands by establishing the Rockport Company and introducing the first shoes with built-in sport technology.

That’s where our story of modern comfort began. They hit the roads of New England selling shoes out of their trunk with the original intent to make money for a sail around the world trip.

The marriage of advanced athletic technologies and casual footwear was literally born out of the trunk of a van! Instead, they launched a unique brand of footwear that would define engineered comfort in the casual shoe industry: Rockport.
